01 gti no electrical no start

Hey there, tried to search but search engine is being worked on. I have an 01 gti 1.8t. Wifey got into it this morning and nothing. It as if we had the wrong key and the little chip in the keyfob was the wrong one and not allowing the ignition to work. I replaced the batts in the key to no avail. Car batt is new. Thoughts?

Problem solved. Battery is dead. Dead dead. So dead it wont take a charge thus decieving my charger to think it was fully charged. Tried to put a draw on the batt while charging but wont do it. The battery is only six months old.

Sounds like shorted cells internally. Should be well within warranty.
