I have a fully customized 67 pan that I need a body for. Will a 56 body bolt right up to the 67 pan? |

What do you mean by "fully customized"? |

New pans, shortened beam, hard fuel lines w/ an fittings tig welded to chassis, dual circuit master cylinder w/ reservoir, entire chassis blasted down, smoothed and powdercoated gloss black. I have way too much time/effort/money into this thing to ever think about doing another one, so if the 56 didnt bolt right up, I would have to find one that did. I just had the 67 bead blasted, and found out that it was a highly polished turd. The p/o had so much bondo on the car--- he actually somehow "built" the heater channels out of bondo. So now I have a 67 that I have to send to the recyclers, and a 67 chassis w/o a body. |

...here's a '63 on a '66 pan and the car in front of the '63 is a '55 on a 1965 pan...bolts right on and secures well. There will be a couple of extra securing areas, under the back seat that are not present on the '56, that are on the '67... but no problems.

I've noticed that the shock mount in the rear looks different from the 67 to the 56. The 67 looks more "curved "... I haven't had a chance, as yet, to compare them side by side. Is that the difference you are referring to? |

Also, I had the z-bar for the 67 rebuilt/ powdercoated. I am guessing it simply isn't used for the 56? |

About 25 years ago I mounted a '56 oval body onto a nice, solid '66 frame. The only "discrepancy" I can remember was that a few fasteners beneath the rear seat were not accounted for- either there was a hole for one on the body but no matching attachment point on the pan, or vice-versa. I'm talking about either one of the 8mm body bolts that go on the edge of the floorpan, or one of the larger 10mm ones that are found in pairs toward the outer rear corner of the rear seat cushion and go into the frame casting above the torsion bar housing. Either way, using only the one fastener per side of the car, the body fit well. I sold it a few years later.
I'm reasonably sure that the '66 pan would be the same as your '67 as to the attachment points for a body.
Then use the 2-chamber brake fluid resevoir from the '67 and mount it on the same location as the metal single reservoir on the oval's body (shelf behind the spare tire). |
