I would like to convert my 1956 Oval Beetle to one piece windows in the doors. Can I use the same window regulators that are on my Oval?
Where can I buy those windows?
I know several companies that sell one piece windows, but only for cars after 1964. _________________ Modern cars are nothing but visual pollution !

Please just don´t do it. If you want one piece windows, look out for a split. _________________ Master of my domain! |

I bought an 1956 Oval body, without registration papers. I welded in a Split roof piece and Split dashboard. Next step is to have one piece windows.
Normally I'm an original freak, but in his case it was just an Oval body. It would be a different story if I bought a complete Oval Beetle..... _________________ Modern cars are nothing but visual pollution !

You should have kept the oval dash in the car. Then you would have a sister car to this one:

Im not a fan but who cares its his car. I was told you need to upgrad your regulators due to length of window and weight. Just what i heard.. |

The Oval mechanism gets in the way of the window when opening. or doesn't lift evenly, I forget which, or both.
In the early eighties I put one piece window in the Oval I was "restoring", okay fixin up.
I used window crank setup from a 70's bug, I drilled and removed the crank section, notched out another portion of the track so it matched up to the Oval's crank location and bolted together there. Drilled some holes and mounted the whole unit. |

I like the way the op thinks "let's cut and weld up an oval!" Don't worry op I'm doing something similar to my 55. Doors were already cut for 1 pieces, otherwise id stick with the vent wings. One pieces suck and very hard to make work nicely. You need later regulators to help support weight of the 1 pcs. And a whole lot of fab and tricks up your slevee to help make it work out. _________________ Gotta give my props to:
