For those who say the square gas tank didn't come until after the war, here we have more evidence that it was used during the war.

Also interesting are the large access covers, and the fact that the tank is elevated, possibly for clearance of a front differential? Could this car have been four wheel drive?

I have read that Der Fuhrer took his last ride in a Volkswagen, visiting the old men and boys on the front lines in Berlin before returning to his bunker under the Reich Chancellery. I have also read that Hitler's VW was four wheel drive. Could it be this car or one just like it?

Yes indeed, it concerns about this picture.

The floor with the bricks or stones is different, but pic nr 3, the one with the open door, has the same floor! Without the stones.

The bricks are there. You can see them just under and to the left of the door. They are hard to see because the bottom is either a little blurry or there is glare on the picture.

Yes and no...Herbert kaes is most likley correct. THe vert does have rain gutter in the back. The one in the shop not. OOOPS , after posting it I see the other one does have them. Get to go to the docter with my eyes...
It does have no winding windows in the back. Suppose they used Kubel style windows.

Same car (see also from page 8 of this thread)? Maybe later in time?
Looks a lot the same but seems to have more chrome details and an antenna in the middle of the wind screen like the car in the pic on top of this page....
All the same car (Ferry's?) or different cars?

Car in the workshop does have rain gutter in the back, car on the road does not have it. Side windows look different also. For me 2 different cars.

You can also see the drop-in rear side windows and the first pic shows a bit of where it sits.

Those pictures of the convertible are awesome ! Thank-you for sharing !!
I disagree on Hitlers last drive being in a KdF (convertible). His last days in Berlin were a bit lead-heavy. I would rather say it was in an armoured vehicle that didn't cause too much attraction but still fast enough to make a decent get-away.
The picture of the bullet-riddled KdF in front of the ruined "Reichskanzlei" comes to mind (the same one been driven through a ruined 44/45 Berlin ?) and I guess the big cars like Mercedes and the Horch were left in the underground garages until the end.

From what I know, Hitlers vert was at his Bavarian retreat and found by the US.
But a 4x4 vert would be very interesting, nevertheless !!
