Does anyone know when the oil breathers went from small pointed to the larger style? I have a 5/52 Beetle and it seems like there were many changes that year with tin.

So PDX db, could you clarify which part exactly you are referring to?
Do you mean the (vented) oil filler cap/cover such as at lower left in this photo from Nancy's build thread?:
Please reply if so, so others can point to PR info correct for your 5/52 car. Best luck on finding the right one.

Sorry about not being clear enough. Yes, I'm wondering about the oil breather/filler cap that is retained by the generator spring strap. One style is smaller with a pointed end, while the later has a larger, wide profile.
