Car looks great. I'm glad you found a good hood, I have a few horded for extras because they are "super" (pun intended) hard to find here in the rust belt. |

No updates lately, but I've been working on it. Starting to put the chassis together, and after spending a good part of the day getting the spring plates back on after replacing the bushings….
I PUT THEM ON THE WRONG SIDE!!! DAMMIT!!!
I'm attaching the trailing arm and I think, hmmm, isn't the brake cylinder supposed to be on the TOP and not the bottom? Yeah, my bump stop is facing the ground, duh… then I realize that means my plates are on the wrong side.
so I get to pull the spring plate covers, lower them off their perch, reset the angle, blah blah blah I hate my life right now

Engine rebuild in progress - was running fine, so I'm just doing a refresh with new bearings, W100 cam, new lifters, mod for full-flow, new P&C.
Yes I know I should have done a line-bore and opened up for more displacement - I went back and forth a million times on whether to do that or not.
In the end I'm sticking with stock displacement but with dual 40 IDFs and the W100. Next engine will be the dream one

Working on my full-flow setup, drilled and tapped the filter housing for oil temp and pressure sensors:
Also got my test stand fully wired up and tested out, so when my engine is built I'll be ready to fire it up. Not much to see, but I got my tach, oil pressure, LED oil idiot light, and hard-start relay all hooked up:

Seeing as how it is about 2 degrees F outside, my enthusiasm for moving my engine work to the garage just isn't there.
So on to my heater boxes in the warmth of my basement. One of them has seen better days:
Cut out the rot in prep for welding in a patch:

Hm? I've never had to open up a heat exchanger before, but all the pictures I've seen of the interior of the heater boxes, show fins.
Is that an aftermarket heat exchanger?

That's the bottom. Fins go the other way.
Personally, I'd buy a good used German one before I atempted to fix that one. They're usually around $40 from a nice dry climate state. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980
