Finally received the separating trim for the birch panel and the aluminum diamond plate.
What do you think of it now?

Got most of the panels done on the interior, now waiting on the bows from Clara and Greg so I can finish the ceiling, then stain and seal all of the panels.
Cleaned, repainted the headlight buckets a darker gray to match the bumper and wheels. Installed the new/used/old stock Hella lens I picked up a few weeks ago. Waiting on the H-4 kit from Bus Depot.

great progress, especially with your hurt paw. The diamond plate is growing on me, looks good with the outside color scheme. And hey..everyone has a back burner project (my NSU's...). _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

No kidding, Jas! I am aware of that. I should just wrap my head around the 68 and finish it. You do remember that I stopped working on it when I hurt my back? The other stuff was more fun, when I got back to it.
Anyhow, too many projects and not enough time or help. I even tried hiring a supposed VW fanatic to help me. Boy, was that a mistake! _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

Those lights look badass w/the industrial bumpers, very 70's euro-old school. It needs some strange rally sticker in Finnish to complete the look. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Ha, I had no idea anyone was following this. Following a busy summer, then a month long illness. Never figured out what it was, but I was dizzy all the time.
Anyhow, got back to it last month and here are some photos to catch up.
Been working on the front door window frames, new seals, etc, the popout window frames and seals. Last but not least, I had a starter issue that turned out to be an oval'd out hole for the starter bushing, so I ended up installing an automatic starter. Problem solved.
Passenger side completed.
Drivers side completed.
Installed a stock blade temporarily, while having the copy of a Bice rear bumper made.
Found some rust thru around one popout window frame, so I had to deal with that before I could continue on the interior.
Passenger side popouts completed and installed. I am working on the drivers side today and will install tomorrow.
All of the stationary glass seals will replaced this week as well.
Oh yeah, since the dash had already been cut, I installed the new stereo/CD player.
So, things are moving along now. I took her for one last drive before Winter hits and she is still running great.
See you later. _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

I love the way the diamond plate protects the lower part of the door. One of my gripes about all Bus front doors is that if you are tall your feet always "tag" the bottom of the panel when you swing your feet in while reaching for the door (most people do this move without contact). I have chewed up a few door panels over the years and always though a protector would be in order. Strange rust out by the pop out. Your Bus is really coming along nicely. Thanks for sharing! _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Couple of drawbacks as of late.
WW sent me two drivers side vent wing locks instead of each side. They took care of it, but now waiting on that part which means I have to remove the vent wing glass and reinstall the lock.
New rear side window rubber on the way also.
Originally I was sent Brazilian rubber and it was much to big for the glass and way too big for the frame opening.
Did get the front windshields and rear hatch glass installed.

Mesh? Do you mean the perforated upholstery? Sure, contact me, it was very easy, though I bought the material in bulk from WW. _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

I have other projects, as you know Manfred. I am tired of jumping around though. I want to finish one and move onto the next one.
