It's like "homemade" cookies in a restaurant. |
Exactly. Just means they didn't farm them out like their front crossmembers and doglegs, which are really low quality. |

If the nose is any thing like their bus floor, it should be a good investment. _________________ Can't polish a turd!

...in house 12 thousand miles away in China..I understood "in house " to mean, that the product is being made by your company, using people on your payroll, using equipment that your company owns, if WW is headquatered and their main hub is in So Cal, then common sense would say that these noses are made in So Cal...that is in house.........made by a company in China/Taiwan that you contract with is not in house.....just my humble opinion..... _________________ that's not patina, that's fucking rust man!!!!

I have tallied over $800 in metal needs for my 61 panel.
I have emailed klassicfab twice over past 3 weeks without any reply.
I have since looked at vintagewagens site and will likely be ordering soon.
KF was my first choice but it appears most people here seem very satisfied with AC parts as well.
I realize that the metal game is very busy, but I would have expected some sort of reply with a fairly expensive order that I'm ready to pull the trigger on NOW. |
When I was placing my order(s), to get a hold of Gerson I made a phone call. He has a Miami # if I recall correctly. A bulk of my KF metal came thru ronnie, FWIW. KF is the fabricator, and doesnt have a store-front. He does have a few sellers in the US though. |
The web site allows you to place orders but does not figure shipping.
Since my order is large I am weighing the option of one large order or 1/2 and a lot of it rides on shipping charges.
I realize he doesn't have a store front, but he has a website that allows you to place items in a "cart" and order. There are hundreds of web only stores with no store front.. _________________ Enemies are friends in reverse..... G. Busey

Sorry my bad, I forgot to mention sliding door split.
The sliding door is on the left. I'm sure the right side half is the same as the regular hinged doors, but the left side is definitely different. |

you will have to probably get a RHD cargo floor, we would leave the area where the door goes unfinished and you will have to finish that area....we do not have patterns for the sliding door buses, otherwise we would finish it... _________________ that's not patina, that's fucking rust man!!!!

Got this shipment yesterday. I have put some autocraft into my last restoration and it worked great. Unfortunately they can't make a lot of what I need- like what you see in this picture: Flat 3rd brake light deck lid, pressed bumpers, headlight strengthener, etc. Communication can be sporadic, but the product is great if you can wait for it! Thanks Gerson.
Oh- and I didn't find the front bumper brackets until my wife was throwing the boxes in the dumpsters and they fell out- lucky! |

Hi you all.
I just bought a project bus, a 57 11 window that the previous owner already converted to a 15window with some nos panels.
All nicely done, but than the only part that lets it down is the roof (dents).
So, why not make it a 23 window, nice looks and away with the dents.
Looking a the skylight panels from Autocraft and Gerson, the only main difference is that autocraft sells the skylight panels in 4-window, and Gerson in 3.
That makes me wonder if the autocraft panel is bended to fit the roof?
Also are there any other difference in fitment etc between the panels.
So anyone that ever used one of the panels, please let me know
Thanks..

while I havent used the KF roof windows, I have seen and held them. I have used the AC inner roof windows and I was not very impressed. Some of the AC parts I also ordered were very nice though.
If you pay close attention to the actual window cutouts on the AC ones, youll see the stamping is not very deep. For me, making a sunroof standard, didnt involve worrying about the outer window cutouts to reach the inner, because standard only needs the inner windows for structure. no actual windows on the roof.
I can only imagine the frustration it would be to use the AC inners for restoration of a roof windowed bus.
In the case of roof windows, I would definitely go with the KF ones. Im pretty sure they also offer the front(4th) window _________________ www.thebustransfer.com

I just wish KF would respond to my inquiries. I need complete doglegs (inner boxed section not just the outer skin) for my late bay. I don't know if these are not available, are available and just not on the site, aren't available but early bay panels could be made to work or...

Does anyone offer a outter skylight skin w/o windows that has the sunroof slider rail?
I have a 59 std that has a wasted roof from the front crossmember back; would be a great candidate for a sunroof convesion. _________________ WANTED:

Gerson -KF- will make anything "By request"
That is the great thing with Gerson I don't think WW or AC offers that part or that kind of a "request service" ... _________________ Wow look at that THAT'S A "SHOW CAR"!!

Has anyone else noticed that practically all these panels have the bends too sharp at the sides? That is, the bend is a smaller radius than original , inside radius is only 1mm, where OG was 2 or 3mm, and how does one make it match the original to be welded? I also wonder how the sharper bend affects strength and flexing? Notice here the very sharp corner vs the more rounded OG sheetmetal corner above it ( borrowed from zuggbug doing a very nice resto) Comments, Gerson, AC, WW?> _________________ '72 Elm Green Deluxe |
