Hello All,

Could use some help here.

Did Beetle floor pans ever change shape/width, etc., among Beetles, vs other models?

I just acquired a complete chassis with floor pans and have the opportunity to acquire a 1964 Beetle body.

I know that the key difference between Things/Ghias and Beetles is the width of the floor pan, but is there a difference in floor pans between Beetles of different years?

I found nothing in the forum search threads to help.

Second question. For some rerason, 1967 seems to be a "special" year for Beetles. What is special about the vehicles made that year?

Thanks for your help!!

Actual floor pans for Beetles had minor changes just like everything else throughout the years.
Floors changed Mid 55 so the older Beetle floors have much different pressings.
The biggest changes as mentioned were the seat rails.

Now if you mean the entire chassis.. lots of changes over the years..

You need 60-72 pans. 56-59 had different pressings at the fronts to accommodate the two bolt pedal stops.

Klassic Fab and Wolfsburg West have year correct pans for your car.

Maybe you could be a little more specific in your question as to just what you are trying to do?

Are you trying to put the 64 body onto a complete chassis? And if so, what year is that chassis?

Or are you looking to buy floor pans for a chassis?

The standard(non super)beetle chassis will fit that 64 body. You'll have to title it as what ever chassis your using.

The ghia and thing chassis have wider pan halfs than a beetle.

If your chassis is later, you will have to modify the rear most body mounts right by where the shocks are.

Just want to point out, that is a VERY EASY modification and not one that should steer you away from your project.
