About price : I have no idea of what it may cost you in the USA, but, here in Europe :
- I paid 600 US $ to have both front seats restored as new, keeping as much as possible of the original stuff. Only side pieces of silvergrey leatherette were changed. Both seat covers were totally un-sewn, and sewn again. 4 hours labour per seat. + cost of material. (Very little, compared to labour).
- One original (period = 60's) grey knob (the small one, on the side, at the bottom) in good shape, not overcooked by the sun, to recline the back, alone, will cost anything between 40 and 75 US $
(I have been offered original grey radio knobs, orange coloured, crackled and overcooked, at the - not negociable - price of 75 Euros per piece)
- The chrome spear alone (if you are able to find one !) will cost you over 100 US $
- The big grey knob : 75 US $, or more.
- The other white knob (the one to lock the seat) : 50 / 60 US $
So, just add it all together !
But that's here in Europe ... |

I recently acquired 5 NOS hood locks in a job lot of VW parts from Germany.
However there are no part numbers/VW logo stamped on them.
Looking through my VW parts books it struck me that they looked very like the Type 34 front hood lock. #22 on below diagram/343 823 509.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thank you.

Yes, there's an early and late. I believe the 1 on the right is early. I believe there's also another 1 (not shown) that gets the wire seals (like on the left), but all 1 piece (like on the right) too. I'd have to check the parts book to be sure though. Can you get us any part numbers off them?
I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

My parts book only lists 2 tail light housings, 1 (341 945 095B) used up thru the end of 67, and 1 for the 68-69 models (343 945 095). But, if you note the first part number I listed, you'll see it has a "B" at the end, which means there's at least an "A" suffix out there, along with possibly a "no suffix" part numbered part. Scott has an ealier parts book than I have, and he might be able to verify whether an "A" or no suffix was available.
Sorry, this is the best I can do from here. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I don't know
Here are regular type 3 speedos, which is why I said a 64 thing.
5/64
7/64
3/64
5/65

Most of model year '64 had red needles, though. The change was in May of '64, if memory serves. I find it curious that the 3/64 speedo has a white needle. Unless I'm forgetting something stupid like "N cars always had white needles" (which I don't recall at all), something is very wrong with this picture.
Also- don't forget that Type 34 instruments came in two different sizes. Late ones are identical to regular T3 gauges but earlier ones are smaller. Greg or Lee will correct me on this if I'm mistaken, but I *think* that the gauges got bigger concurrently with white needles. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Yup, up thru 64 was the smaller unit, while 65 and later are the same size (larger) as a regular type 3.
My March of 64 T-34 had red/orange needles in it, and still had the PB unit. For 65, all type 3s and T-34s got push-pull style switches. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Supposedly, my car has the original gauges in it (except the speedo) and they're both white needle. The speedo is MPH and is dated 5/64 with white needle. My car was built March of 1964.
The clock and the fuel cluster are both white needle but I haven't checked the dates. |

I was speaking to your Type 3 speedometers...the push button assembly ended in April 64 so yours must have been one of the first non push button cars. |
