Well ive been mia for a while. Fixed my car finally omg. Check my thread for the details on what happened |
Yeah, same story here. I literally JUST got those carbs on, and just got done moving into a new house.
Also just ordered some new Nankang tires. |
Man i need new tires, lowered my car the other day with some new struts. 3.5 inch drop i went just to be same because i cant tuck right now. I Can still dial it down about another inch. Anyways, my tires were ruined, and i mean ruined after 1 day of driving. Alignment was more than way off, the tires squealed when i drove straight, and along with the stupid amount of camber i killed em after a day of driving around town. Pissed, but atleat it looks good now

Welp, looks like this club might be dead.
I haven't posted, or even been on this site for months!
I still have my Beetle, and its doing better than ever, with new Weber carbs, brakes, and tires.
I am living on campus, so it gets parked on the street near my dorm most of the time.
I am currently looking into buying a Peugeot 103 moped, so that I could instead leave my beetle at my house, since I only live 10 minutes away from campus.

So I guess everybody left?
Geez.
Then again, I can't report any real work on my car since my last post.
Still more or less a daily driver.
Except now it has competition with a 1977 Peugeot 103 moped.
I should probably look into replacing the Beetle's shock absorbers soon, and it could use a major detailing, but other than that its still ticking along fine.
Anybody else still in the club?? Guys? _________________ (0\!/0) 1966 Beetle - daily driver. |

The moped looks fun!
I've been overwhelmed and away at college, so I haven't had ANY time to work on ol' Beetlebaum. Also, the mechanic hasn't returned my phone call from about a month ago...so let's hope I can get Beetlebaum over to him soon for evaluation as to why he doesn't run!
Besides that, nothing much has been up with me. I have very little time for anything recreational besides occasionally writing letters or hanging out with friends on campus; the most exciting car thing I did recently was put new oil in my daily driver, a 2000 Ford Contour. _________________ 1973 Super Beetle

Yeah it looks pretty dead over here...since I've been at school I really haven't been able to keep up with everything anymore. But by all means, everyone keep posting! _________________ My '72 Super |

Still waiting for my parts to get here so I can replace the braided fuel lines. Anyone else been having problems with USPS lately? My supposed priority 2-day package that I ordered last Thursday from JBUGS still hasn't gotten here. _________________ Felix the Flying Deutschmann: 1969 Savannah Beige Beetle with 1600DP engine |

It's funny you mention problems with USPS. My boyfriend ordered us a bunch of groceries from Amazon (yeah you can do that lol) and they never showed up. When he called Amazon they said that USPS had lost the package, so they re-sent us another package and refunded the shipping. Might want to check into your package... _________________ My '72 Super |

Wow this thread still exists! Cool!
I guess I really haven't done much to my beetle in a long while.
I should probably replace the shocks soon, and I need to get some new hood struts so I don't have to hold the hood open when I'm fueling.
In the mean time it just keeps bumbling on down the road, never faltering.
I guess that's one of the reasons I love VW's.
They are probably one of the few classic cars you could own and not touch with a wrench for months at a time.

My New Beetle came home a few days ago from the shop.
She's been trekking around, but she's not quite perfect yet. I've bought most of the new parts she'll need, and tomorrow I'll put a few more of them on. Today was fixing a bad bushing, tomorrow will be replacing the brakes, and soon I'll put in new struts.
Here she is with a new friend.
And, as usual, not much is new with Beetlebaum. I've got a plan for him, though, which involves getting him painted before next summer--and then, next summer, I'll tackle the front suspension. We'll see if that plays out! _________________ 1973 Super Beetle
