We won't get into the contentious issue of whether adding an extra 1.5 quarts of oil will aid cooling or just add to the time the oil will get to its normal running temperature. Be that running hot or running at a normal temperature. Wink

My point is that deep sumps don't filter.

AFAIK, only the CB mini-sump does that. It's nothing like what the OP has.

Max --

I always pay attention to your posts. I continue to find uses for this wrench you ruined for me. You are correct 99 out 100 times -- but this is number 100. There are sumps, other than the mini sump, that add extra filtration:

Now you are free to be correct 99 more times Smile

How about that. I stand corrected.

Thanks!

And if you need anything else ruined ... Very Happy

There is an EMPI version as well (p/n 17-2871)... Very similar to the CB sump. Perhaps the same casting other than the branded cover plate?

How does empi not get sued for something like this?

Maybe they pay a royalty to CB on each one...who knows. Confused

Or maybe it's the other way around, and CB buys the sump from EMPI and puts their own cover on it?

Only branding the cover plate is pretty much a giveaway that it was designed to be generic. If CB (or EMPI) really cared about being exclusive, they would put their name on the sump casting, not the most trivially replaced small bolt on piece.

I think this is a great idea, the filter and extra oil has to help the engine.
