Hi Everyone,

Forgive me if I sound like an idiot; I am new to VWs. I just bought a 74 super beetle from an older gentleman who really seemed to know his stuff. He said that the turn signals didnt work and that he thought it was a short but he didnt feel like tracking it down so he just lowered the price a little. He pulled the #8 fuse because it just kept blowing. So there is no fuse in there now. When I put one in, the door buzzer started working then the fuse just blew. So any insight into this would be greatly appreciated...which leads me to my next problem (which, from everything I have read on this site, is most likely related)....

I have a fuse in #12 and all is good except for the turn signals not working. The green turn signal indicator light on the speedometer is just on all the time. If I turn on the emergency flashers, they blink super fast then the fuse blows.

..so here is what I have gathered so far (and keep in mind I'm new at this): The turn signal and emergency flasher wires come together at some point and then go their seperate ways (this having to do with the fact that the turn signals only work when the car is on and the emergency flashers are supposed to work even with the car off and no keys in the ignition hence the different fuses) Is this correct?

I guess my question is where should I be looking for a short? What does it look like? Or is my switch or relay gone bad? I have a multimeter and a voltage tester but I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be very much appreciated!! Thank you!!
