I recently bought a buggy and it has pretty severe negative camber and I want to reset it to neutral.
The left side is about 1/2" from the bump, and the passenger is even closer.

I *think* i've done enough research to figure out I need to unbolt the spring plate cover (yellow) pull out the rubber bushing, remove the rear bolts on the spring plates (green) and turn them counter clockwise a few teeth on the splines until the ride is reset?

The springs should sit on the frame and the gape here (purple) should be gone?

yes, no, kinda?

Springs require a certain level of respect, so is there any alternate system I can use besides an expensive one time use tool?

floor jack and ratchet strap. For IRS setup like yours, i usually adjust spring plate to just cover the bottom right bolt hole where the end cap bolts on, then jack and pry it into place. may need to redo one side after all is said and done so they match as torsion bars may be old and one side sags.

If one side is extreme neg camber, I would be checking for something bent before adjusting torsion bars.

I suggest get a cheap angle finder so you can set your torsion bars exactly the same...instead of a few teeth. i use a chain from the shock tower to the floor jack and has worked fine for me.

Two things about counting splines and angles....

Also valid for raising rear...

Procedures are pretty simple.... Floor jack and chain in simplest way to control tension....

Or home made tool...

And the real load movement is small (if any) but it may come loose suddeny with startling results... Be careful on first couple of times...

ok now I have another question.
I don't have to remove the entire trailing arm do I? I cant get enough clearance to start moving the plates off the torsion bar.
after looking at it, it looks like its just the brake hose holding it up. Can I just take the hose off and drop the trailing arm all the way to the ground?

I was trying to avoid opening the brake lines if possible (i hate bleeding the stupid things) but if I open the lines and can keep the trailing arms assembled, i'll go that route.

I've never had to break my brake lines loose to do mine.

If you loosen or take out the inner trailing arm pivot bolt, you will be able to move trailing arm back far enough to clear the upper steel stop.
No need to remove brake line.
