Looking for ideas on race seat mounts to replace stock seat mounts. Car has race seats, not sure of brand, but still uses stock mounts. I had found some mounts online, but wanted to see what the experts think of as the best way to make this upgrade. |

About the best and probably least expensive available....
Used them on my FG street buggy with RPR seats and love them...

May also need these if using Beard or PRP seats...

I welded angle metal on the center and the side heater channels.
This way gives me open space under the seat for stuff..shoes...
I used m3 seats from a bmw.

Race seats and seat belts ought to be mounted to the cage not the body or pan. If the car gets hit or tweaked you want the seats [well, you] to stay with the cage. If you just want it for a show car, well, whatever...

I put these in our Class11 racecar.
Scoped out some seat sliders at my local junk yard out of a big ford van. Big high seats so I knew they would be heavy duty. Kind of a pain to remove but some sweat and an hour later and $50 and they were mine.
Beefed them up more and welded some things to make stronger. Not pretty but
Have held up great with many hard race miles. They stick out just enough I can use my heal to adjust.

This is a good point. If you have a full cage that runs under the seats. And certainly if you are heavy play or racing. Yet I am pretty confident that a connection to the center tunnel is as strong as a one to a cage . As far as connecting to the side heater channels may not be as strong but if you weld a metal mount that has a good distributed connection to the seemed edges of the body that it would certainly be stronger than a connection to the pan. And n my case am also connected to a steel lift kit that ain't going nowhere.
My m3 seats have the seat belt receiver connected to the seat base (part of the seat) I figure if that is ok for a late model bmw it is ok for me. The other side connects to my roll cage |
