Dug through an old parts stash and found these venerable [probably 1948-1952 vintage] Unity fog lights.

I think they look superb. Think they stink? Let me know.

I think they look cool. I am thinking of doing a single amber fog sometime in the future, and if i saw one of those in my search, I would be interested.

They look good but the location you have them at makes the bug look like it has bags under its eyes. They need to move in, down and in front of the bumper.

I don't think you should bother. They would look better on my car!:p

No really, they look good. But I agree, they should be a little closer to the middle.

I'm totally with the closer-to-the-middle group, but I found these babies are so big, and so dependent on their heavy cast-iron bases, that mounting them in such a manner meant I couldn't get the front lid open, dammit. Tried for hours in the hot sun! So this is the compromise.

They're nice and old and have 6 volt bulbs which is good as my Beetle is still 6 volt.

Thanks for the opinions!

Mount them in front of the bumper ( where it looks better) and the problem is solved.

Eh.... Ive never been a fog light fan on Beetles, but do like and have respect for using period correct parts. Ive even pick'd a few for myself.... if I ever want to use them.
I agree, they look a little odd placed wide and close to the headlights, but with that light size you may be limited on placement.
If YOU like the placement thats really all that matters and the main point.... Id roll em....

I like the look of fog lights and plan on putting them on my car too, but I can't decide if I like the orange or clear lights.

I've been shopping for a quality set of fog lights for my '66 Sedan. Which fog lights are you guys putting on your '66 or later?

Fogs off a 78 MB 280c a junk yard pick. They bolted on to the bumper without any modifications.

Nice score madmack!

@ shortride, ISP West sells a cheap 5" foglight set in clear or amber. Not the best quality, but I like them because their size is more proportionate to a Beetle, thus easier to find a good location...
http://www.vwispwest.com/ZVW120.html

They also sell the 7" Hella kit...

You can find vintage Hella or Bosch at swap meets, but they can also be found here in the Classifieds...

Its been my experience that the chrome doesn't hold up for long on cheaper accessories. I don't mind paying a little more for a quality set of fog lights. Usually when you buy cheap, cheap is what you get.

Thanks for the input.

Keep them but move them to the front of the bumper and move them in. Here is how I mounted mine, wish they were as big as yours.
