I don't know if it was the temperature drop or what, but Thing has left me unable to lift the front lid (hood or bonnet depending on your locale) and not being pleased with the passenger rear door.

I have searched here for the lid solution. I will try a few of those and order a new cable.

The rear door has me perplexed, though. If I fight it long enough from the inside, it will eventually open. I'm thinking it has to be a simple alignment problem. Being the resident technoklutz, I don't want to be farting around with tools and taking guesswork to the extreme.

One thing I had thought about later was I did have the door off a month or so ago. I'm not sure if I tried the door since then until now. Is it possible the door "sat" onto its hinges when being placed back onto Thing enough differently to offer me this challenge?

Lets try some WD 40 or something like it. Spray it all over. If this works take all the latch's out and clean and oil. Most likely the rear has not been used as much as the rest.

I'll give WD-40 a try.

Funny thing is I use that door to hook up the battery tender. The lock/unlock mechanism snaps up and down like it did before. In the unlock position -- regardless if I'm trying from the inside or the outside -- the mechanism pulls without resistance but nothing happens. Only with some inspired multiple tries do I eventually get success from the inside.

Thanks! We'll see.
