Stefi.g is selling a Pre-A repro cam that looks interesting - 280 advertised duration, and 8.4mm max lift.

Has anyone tried it?
Cheers,

Yes. Pre-A Porsches used a (2 piece) VW case.

Paul:
Is this your car? What happened with the Old Speed Project?

"Is this your car?"
I wish!
"What happened with the Old Speed Project?"
The bad news is that for the past few years my Old Speed Slush Fund hasn't been very well funded. One dog needed emergency back surgery ($8K), and the another needed two ACL repairs (~ $6K each).
The good news is that I was able to drop my heads/manifolds off at my head porter last month. He still has two Porsche 356 engines in the queue ahead of me, but he should get to my heads later this month. I told him to install "the good stuff" (beehive valve springs, titanium retainers, etc.) He's currently doing some research to see what the best size valves would be.
Cheers,

Paul, could you post some photos of your engine? I would like to compare
your build with what I have.
Thanks

Very close to my number 2 grind which is 8.25mm on the intake and 7.75mm on the exhaust lift. Duration on mine is 232 degrees intake and 227 degrees exhaust at .050". Doesn't say where Stefi.g's cam is measured at. As a comparison, the WW cam is 8.76mm lift with I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) a 227 duration at .050". Nice looking cams from the picture in the ad. _________________ 30 years experience in the sales of new and used auto parts!
