So That's it regarding the resto untill now. I'm sure I forgot several things. Otherwise see my original Dutch topic here: http://www.keversite.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9219

The latest project I'm doing tho the oval is converting it to (electric)powersteering. I made some pictures:

First made a adapter to fit the original steering column to the unit.

Made a new output shaft, from the unit to the original steering box.

I'm going to fit the unit underneath the tank, the tank will need to be modified slightly, but that's a later issue.

On the inside it will not be visible that there is powersteering fitted. That's how it should be I'll gues.

I'll still need to fabricate more stuff to get it worked, but this how it will look....... The goal is to get it on there, but not visible and with minor modifications to the car. Offcourse you van always go back to original. I got a spare steering column which I use for this. So I got a complete original one left. Which I can use go back to starndard. This saves time. Oherwise I needed to make me more parts.

As final touch today, I repaired my locking plate from the ragtop:

Just going to sandblast and tin it next week I think.

That's it for now, next time more!

Thanks,

Regards,

Patrick

I agree, love the green.
Who makes the power steering unit? And how do you plan to complete the horn circuit? Very interesting, looks like great work!

Hi,

Thanks for your reactions, the colour is iceland green. I took me quite some time to find a colour a liked. Eventually it turned out very well and every time I see it I'm Very Happy

Regarding the powersteering unit, I do this for a living. Converting classic cars to powersteering. So it's obvious My own cars get it too. I have converterted my VW1303 also.

Regarding the horn circuit, I'm gonna use a ring and a brush on the steering shaft, similar like original, I'll add some photo''s once I get there!

I'm planning to fit another steerwheel, I must say I like the moto lita look very much, mountney has a classic woodrim steering wheel which is also very nice and they are both affordable to get. It would be nice to get an smaller one like a 13inch wheel. The steering will be much lighter so the steering wheel can be smaller. It also has the advantage that there will be more clearance.
If someone has some other woodrim steering wheel suggestions, please let me know!

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi,

Found a really nice moto lita steering wheel for the oval, it's a smaller one the original. I'll gues it will look nice on the oval.

Í now need to look for a nice horn button, I have found some on vwparts.net. But the are about 105dollar for the button only. I'm thinking for the solution from http://www.porschekaefer.de/hupenknopf.htm That also looks very nice.
If anyone els got some suggestions? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi,

It has been a long time since the last update, actually haven't done much...... Now got the oval out of the garage blown off the dust and had a good look at it.

First it needed a wire harness, so it would be mobil again, without needed to push it grough the garage. Decided to make my own harness that suits my needs.
The basics are there fo now, it starts, alternator charges, dash instruments work. That's enough for now.

Temp. fitted a small fuel tank and an electrical fuel pump. For now still have acces to everything down there, that's easy.

Just another question, I have the possbilitie to get me an Porsche VDM steering wheel, but it needs to be resprayed. Does anyone have the right colourcode for an ivory steering wheel. The google search didn't gave me the right answer. See photo for an example:

If someone can help me........

Thanks,

Patrick

Next time more Very Happy
