the one on the left looks like the circa 56/7 oil cooler used for a few months only with a brace back to the case behind the fan shroud. |

ok, thank you for that precisions
so that oil cooler has nothing to do on my april 53 engine
it's not possible to fit him in a early non ribbed fan shroud so ? except if I cut the bracket |

It will fit fine. The bracket is separate, it bolts to the cooler through a hole in the fan shroud and then at the other end it bolts to an engine case seam bolt. _________________ Roads Scholar &

The coolers with the bracket for the brace seem to be much more common than the other two associated parts. Here is an NOS example of the brace. This is the only one I have seen in person.
The other part is the fan shroud with the factory pre-drilled hole for mounting the brace. I have looked at a lot of fan shrouds and have yet to find one. Somewhere in TheSamba archives there is a factory bulletin with instructions on how to locate the hole and drill your own. _________________ Roads Scholar &

The coolers are date coded not the brace or fan shroud. _________________ Roads Scholar &
