Has anyone ever replaced the metal where the fender gets bolted to?

Is there a plate with a nut welded to it and then put in place in the wheel well area? Kinda hard to explain without visually seeing it I guess lol

no good pics in my gallery. There are nuts welded behind the sheet metal around the inner lip of the fender. once you remove the fender, you will see them no problem. i believe they may be on a larger plate. been too long since I had mine opened up. easy enough to cut out sheet metal area around nut. Then get piece of sheet metal, drill through little larger hole than bolt, weld not to sheet metal, then weld in sheet metal. very easy fix if you have some basic fab skills.

Maybe something like these "Easy-Align Weld Nuts" would work:

Another McMaster Carr product. After you weld in take a hammer and knock down level. This is when you don't need to get behind to weld a nut in.
