Have had a problem with it on occasion. Easier to just bleed it on the VW. Open bleeder and have helper push down on the pedal. Once pedal is down close the bleeder, have helper let up on the pedal slowly which will suck in the brake fluid into the MC. Repeat on other axle till you get brake fluid pumping out. Then bleed normally for dual MC starting with front axle and fully tightened brake shoe adjusting stars. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Though not necessary, a proper bench bleed will assure you that a master cylinder is good before you put it on the car. _________________ Brian

Yes, the cylinder will most likely leak brake fluid.
Double check any connections you took apart to make sure they are tight. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Adjust all the brake shoes so they are snug against the drums.
Start the bleeding process with the FRONT brakes FIRST then do the rear brakes.
Re-adjust the brake shoes. _________________ Joey

What has worked for me is to install it in the car, leave the lines off and fill reservior. Yes it is a freaking mess. When fluid is pouring out install lines. Then start bleeding procedure. There are many ways to skin a rabbit. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

Once the system is bled properly you will have a solid and high pedal, the smallest of leaks will fad that pedal so fast. Dry all the connections then have someone else put as much pressure as you would use in a panic stop, then some. You look at every connection and you will find your leak! If there are absolutely no leaks and your brakes are installed and adjusted properly, the MC is likely your problem. Use a brand new master, not rebuilt |
