Hmm, much lighter, disk brakes with integrated parking brakes, slightly wider track, not so hard to find salvage. Only thing I can think of is you really can't modify them very easily and They have that P name on them when you go to get new disks and pads..... _________________ 71 LWB Manx style dunebuggy

They bolt on to the IRS chassis with - IIRC - an inner bushing change?
I'd have to go back into mine to recall... you have to pay attention to the adjusting bolts where the torsion arms & Porsche trailing arm bolt together; I had to grind down the bolt heads slightly so that they didn't rub the torsion housing shock arms/castings.

Well all the body fab is done! Side pods have been glassed in with lockable access doors from the inside that came out soooo nice! All the brakes are done, chassis rolling, motor, drive train, suspension all done. Time for paint and final assembly! Starting to look like a real car I'm pretty pumped, Carlisle here I come!

Lookin good! You've gotta post pics of the access doors, that's a great idea for storage. Can't wait to see it at Carlisle. _________________ Manxter #39 on a 1971 Pan

Well most the body work is done, doing a final 90% build before giving it back to the body guy for finish paint. Hurdles at every turn!

Well I had a rather large break in this project due to discovering some problems with the chassis then moving across the country and back ha ha However things are really on track now and looking like she'll be a driver in about a week! Here some updated pics and more to come!

Two quick questions for you. What size were the Cragers you were running on it before. And where did you pick up the motor? |

How much wider than stock did the "P" trailing arms make it? |

You really need to check the set-up and action on your carb linkage. It looks way wrong here. _________________ www.LoCashRacing.org

Man that looks great!
Where did you get all of the fuel line fittings? Did they bolt on without carb mods? |

The paint is a two stage Dupont Hot Hues Candy Apple Red. The Cragers I used to run were 14" in front and 15x12 in the rear, the motor was built by Mark Wolter at Strictly Foreign. The rear end is about 4" wider on each side with the Porsche trailing arms. The carb linkage is dead on for full throw and the fuel fitting are standard AN onto the webers I hope to have some more pics up soon as its much further along now. |

I agree with John on linkage. It should be straight up and down or you will wear the throttle bores out in a short time.

Agree on the linkage.
But, some body's are so tight fitting dual carbs that they have to be pulled in like that to clear the back of the body. If I had not put a body lift on my Manx II, this linkage would not have fit mine with the drop rods perpendicular.
I get into that situation again, I will go sync-link. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

Oh, yes. That SyncLink is trick as all get out. All pulleys and cables... A thing of beauty.
aklauz; your thread got me in my shop today. Didn't do much but I did something. Thank you for the inspiration.

Mike I'm glad I could inspire ya! I actually am using sync link now and it's really awesome. No more binding Unfortunately this winter I'm rebuilding my motor because I blew the bottom end in the fall, sucked. It's always something!
