Have my engine case back from Brothers machine shop for a welded full flow

I have all parts for a complete engine build with a lot of NOS parts

As soon as I have my zinc plated hardware back from the platers I'll start the build

The engine together with the optional OG rear sway bar are the last parts to do to finally have the car ready after 20 years

It must be finished before my 36th birthday in 2015 !

Still going strong Smile

You got that right Brian. Very Happy Bert, is that an NOS case? Or the original to the car (numbers matching)?

I do have and keep the OG case

All internals and tin etc. will be transfered to this case since it's a couple of months older case with dual relief - bigger oil cooler holes - rear engine hanger bosses type

A better case to actually use if I ever decide to drive the fasty

OMG! Looking so awesome can't wait to see your type 3 finished. The level of restoration and attention to detail is exceptional! One day my fasty Sharky 2 will get that level of TLC she's longing to get! Cool type 3 buddy!

Had some productive days

Painted the case in the same paint I did the gearbox - lots of masking of all the mating surfaces and surfaces for the seals

Transferred all the innerts - closed up the longblock with all zinc plated hardware

Used my Bentley to make sure everything went in right and used the correct torqued

Installed some smaller parts to make sure I have everything to complete it over the next weeks

Used a lot of NOS parts I collected in the past like:

- NOS oil filler - NOS sponge +NOS cup and NOS big washer - NOS cap on top - NOS drip tube - NOS fuel pump

Glenn Ring restored dizzy with NOS points - NOS cap - NOS vacuum can - NOS correct type 3 numbered 90° wires

NOS short pre heat exchangers

Lots of new CSP parts in there as well

Used a Viktor Reinz seal set - good quality seals they are

Note the new welded full flow setup - best there is n my opinion !

Still going strong Smile

Probably Hans - BTW nice feature on your '67 !

2 weeks Chistmass holiday - did some engine work today

What I learned today: you need to use the short frontal cilinder tin in combo with the "cool" under cilinder tin

I changed out the entire thermostat setup for NOS pieces I had

Made some progress: installed the big fan housing with the OG centering tool
Installed the fans + tinware

This week I am going to paint the heaterbox and pre-heater boxes together with the elbows

The exhaust will be fitted too

Then it's waiting for the last batch of zinc plated parts to redo those carbs (again)

Still going strong Smile

Did you use the metal gaskets for the head to intake manifold mating surfaces? I changed to paper/bake-light/paper sandwich trying to cure some heatsoak issues. i believe I got that advice from Russ..

I used copper exhaust seals

Painted the NOS pre-heaters - the NOS elbows - used NOS elbows to heater tubes clipses

Used NOS exhaust to pre-heater seals - installed the repro Abarth exhaust

Next the heater boxes

Still going strong Smile

If didn't go that route, use the thick paper gaskets. Those worked well for me. Cool I do have the phenolic spacer between the manifold and the carb though. Wink

Bertie, the engine looks fantastic. Twisted Evil

This engine is far to clean to put in a car. It should be displayed in a showcase...!!! Nice work BerT3, when can I bring mine?

Go back and read the thread. It's gonna sit in his living room (basically). It'll be his own museum/showcase car, for him to enjoy. He said he's been collecting bits for years, just to do this car. Shocked

I know. This thread isn't new to me... Still, the engine on itself is a showpiece.
