It turned out to be the old bus of a famous swedish singer.

Here are some old pictures of the bus in the 50´s

Really cool!!

Maybe 50split, the owner of the bus, will show up here and tell some more...

When I picked it, the owner told that rumor says that it´s Alice Babs old bus.

I was like "yes, that kind of story I´ve heard before"

But, this was back in my head, and then the old car magazine showed up on Ebay, and I could tell by the colors it could be right.
Then I put this on swedish boxerville.se forums, and than a friend, who´s father worked as mechanic at the local vw dealer back in the 50´s, and Alice Babs showed up with her bus, and he took a photo of him and Alice, in front of her bus.
There are "stamps" of an old roofrack on my bus, and hole for a searchlight, and then when this photo showed up it I were really sure this is the bus! Smile

This will not be a quick fix, the plan is to go to the Hessisch Oldendorf 2021, when the car turns 70 years old, and go back to the factory too.

This spring i was lucky, when a complete, but shortened chassis showed up for sale in my region. This was used as a "tractor" back in the days, so the guy making it, shorted a chassis from a bus, that he got a hold of, when he was working at the local vw dealer. This chassis was complete with front beam, gearbox, steer-wheel and so on.
Not any ch number or anything, but the barndoor guys told it shuld be made ~mid 51 - end of 52. "Alice" (the bus) is a september 51, so this chassis would be all correct for the bus.

When I got it home, I checked the numbers on the frontbeam and the gearbox, and I could not believe what I found, a chassis from SEPTEMBER 1951, to my bus who are a SEPTEMBER 1951....
SICK!! The two cars would have been on the same shipment to Sweden back in 1951!

A Swedish celebrity owned your bus AND you found a correct chassis for it 60+ years later?

I would say that you are off to a good start.

I will follow this one for sure.

Daniel, can you start another thread and tell us about your 54 Barndoor find also?

From Daniel's Blog:
Quote:
This is my babe I collected last year. It had been sitting for like 40 years, up side down, in the woods of Jämtland.
Wired is it´s much more solid than many other cars pulled out of the woods now a days….
Funny thing is that the air inlet that was cut out is in norway now, in hands of a friend of me. The world is little…. Wink
The lose roof on top is from a 65 panelvan.
