Well it has been several months of driving and enjoying my Volksrod, I have had it listed for sale on here for a while.
Couple weeks back just driving along, shift to second gear and POP, BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA, almost Sh!t myself!!!! Number 3 plug blows out of the hole. Seems somewhere along its life someone installed a thread-sert and the head gave up to ghost.
So I had this rebuilt engine that I purchased a year back sitting in the corner, good time to use it. I cleaned, modified and painted all the stock tins, installed it in a few hours yesterday, still need to make a couple of brackets for throttle return springs and hook up carb linkage.
I am also going to buy a better set of Coated buggy headers, these don't fit for crap (EMPI)
So here is a pic of the new "bullet" nothing to fancy just a 1641, small cam and Weber 40-IDF. bought assembled and running with only a hundred hours or so. info given to me by the seller.

Did the last of what I had planned for the Volksrod today.
Installed a SunPro mini tach to keep tabs on the new motor, a little obstructed but it is ok to me, and installed a later model blower fan/ fresh air box, I had to modify the tubes leading to dash as they are much smaller and shorter than the late model tubes.
Added a two three position toggle switch to run either low or high. Will come in handy in the rain.

I removed the tighter fitting, too close to the valve cover cannons and replaced them with the newer design coated ones, The upsweep is the only drawback that it may take on some water in the rain, but a small negative next to the space I have for valve adjustments and dual carbs ( if I ever decide to go that route)
What do you guys think? Now I really cant think of anything else to do to it. IT IS DONE ?

LOVE the car (have said it before) - There are not a lot of cars that I see where I feel that the builder has "nailed it" but you have. And yeah - sure as hell looks done, but it wont be......
After driving the woodie for a couple years, everytime I look at it now - its "Man, I REALLY would be happier if those front tires tucked in another 1/2" - meaning ditching the dropped spindles and doing and adjustable beam eventually. My 65 bug has been "done" for years. Just trimmed out the vinyl under the dash a little better. Her 61 has been done as well. Just put a set of snowflakes on it.....Buggy was pretty much done 6 years ago........Tonneau cover, new tail lights, probably repaint..........
Yeah - your car is done.... _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Nice ride! Great work, I mean really great! & congrats on the calendar shot! By the sound of things, you've had the engine cooling issue brought up by others earlier in this thread figured out since it's inception? Kudo's. I'm inspired, but I'm sure I'll have my hands full with my Westy for a bit longer

"a woman backed up into it while she was busy texting"
Same thing happened to me, seems like they're ALWAYS frackin' texting ! ! !
Insurance settled, but I wish that it dragged out longer so that I could beat some sense into her husband. Can't hit the girls, but their husbands are ALWAYS fair game . . . |

You have to make it justifiable because today people use their smartphones for everything and they can record you hitting the husband and then the video goes viral !!!
How do you make it justifiable.. get him to hit you first or even just poke you with his finger.. once that happens then he's done.. proceed with the whacking..
Now that is just simply assault.. but if his keys are in his hands then it steps up to Aggravated Assault and if he hits you with the keys and scratches then it is " Aggravated Assault and Battery"
If you don't press charges then I am sure he will .. so make sure you take him down to the ground and be the first one to call the Fuzz.
Now did you know that in some states it is illegal for someone to record your voice let alone a video... in Florida its against the law.. prosecutable.
You have to declare it so both parties know... in NY its a different matter.. you don't need consent..
I hope this helps _________________ My '64 Pan Meyers Manx Dune Buggy "Lady in Red"
