Hello Thing Gurus ..would a 3 spoke steering wheel with fine grooves
from a canadian bug fit a 1973 thing..or i have to change the steering column..thanks in advance..

Not a Guru, but the year of the Bug matters, as they switched Thing columns in Mid '74(IIRC)..
It's the spline count that changed(maybe that's what you mean by "fine grooves"....

It is my understanding that 73 Things used a 21MM shaft x40 tooth spline,and had a 27MM nut. The 74 Things used a 17MM shaft x40 tooth spline with a 24MM nut. According to what I can find out, from vin#1842219789 on was the 17MM shaft x40 spline. Hope this helps.
