So like most, upon disassembly of my front beam four of the eight slats are cracked. I really prefer not to modify to a later arm and slat if I can help it. Does any one have any info on someone that has successfully sourced the proper material to remake these? Not trying to turn it to a WTB ad either so if someone has some please just PM me the info.

is this a difficult material to get? seems like it is used so much that you should be able to find it anywhere?

I would be interested to know of a source too - I suspect a couple of mine might be broken too.

My beam is not apart so I do not want to block gatorwyatt in any way if someone has some kicking around and available for him to purchase.

I have one broken blade in my stacks.

I've contacted every major spring place in my country and none of them have any clue as to where else I may look nor how to help me.

According to, well, all of them, this thickness of spring steel hasn't been used in a very long time. The new standard is double. As it is spring steel, they can't guillotine it or mess with the temper of the metal.

I've been told of a place in Germany that can supply new stacks, but I cannot find the infernal email with the name in it...

I too, would be interested in a source.

One thing I found when i changed mine is that type 22,24 and 27 have 5 blades top and bottom and all the others have a mixture 5 blades in the bottom and 4 in the top.

Yes... I stand corrected after I recounted.
5 blades in bottom and 4 in top... I have broken slats in both.

I would try maybe Gerson. It's not something he reproduces, but may have some on the self from the buses he's parted.

i have never measured the dimensions for bd beams, but in the catalog of one of the steel-distributors here in norway i see the smallest flat springsteel is 5x25mm next is 5x50. any of you have the measurements?

it is pretty easy to cut it ("guillotine") it with using a BIG sheet cutter and set the values for a heavier plate. we have used some springsteel in different projects at work. welding it is a whole 'notter story. would not recomand welding it for the beam unless you know exatly what your doing.

So after reviewing the parts list all panel, kombi and truck models used a combo of 4 slats in top and 5 in bottom. All others used 5 and 5.

The slate measurements are
Stacks of 4 5.625mm x 22.50
Stacks of 5 4.50mm x 22.50

Can you use some of the middle width slats from a later bus?

I suppose it is possible...the difference will be wether you have enough thickness to build to the needed dimension of the originals. Maybe between a combination of old and new it is possible.

Anyone have a upper Barndoor torsion arm? I could use one.
