This is what I gather from reading this thread. Stock, the solenoid and bulb are wired in series to each other fed from the single post/connection and ground through the body mount to complete the circuit.
|
Not true. The bulb and solenoid are wired in parallel. |
Good to know. Thanks. _________________ '72 super

quick question...
so the black and white wire is power for the semaphore solenoid...
and the bulb?
when making a separate supply for the bulb so it can flash, could the blue wire (usually for the dash light) be disconnected and re-used for bulb power to save running an extra wire, and then I can deal with the dash light in a different way under the hood? |

Yes. I ran the power from the flasher backward up the blue wire to the dash light, then on to the sema bulb. Then ground it out there. _________________ CH³NO²

I figured you guys, and girls, would appreciate these flashing 6 volt festoon LED bulbs that work in Semaphores. I stopped by a friends house the other day and he had just installed a set on his 55 beetle. I was impressed enough to buy a set for my 52. With shipping to the US they are were just over $50. Super bright even in the Florida sun and the good thing is no extra wiring or relays involved. Here is a link to the seller and a video on the Tube. I have no affiliation with the seller just thought someone here might be interested.

Thanks! Order placed! ...And both of their signal buzzers gizmos too.
Can't tell you how many times people pull up next to me at stop lights, parking lots, drive thru's etc... saying Hey, there some weird yellow thing sticking out the side of your door. ..And then of course you have to explain what they actually are for 10 minutes... _________________ ::: Slowoval ::: LaDawri Sebring ::: '61 Creampuff ::: Dust Storm '66 ::: |

Should be 31 mm with the 7mm bullets on the ends. It says they are the "Bosch Style" and the Lucas ones are 36mm. Didn't even notice the signal buzzer gizmo or the LED headlights. Just might have to make another order. _________________ Independent German Auto

Mine....

Used 2 old SWF brown 55-59 relays and gutted them/soldered in new solid state goodies. Wiring was easy, using a Bosch red tip semi switch. Made hearts blink too and own LED clusters for brake/running. |

I'm running the 6v flashing leds too, but found when I use the parkers or headlights they didn't work too well or if at all. Seemed too much power drained to the other globes.
Still need to check the voltage going to them when the lights are on. Only supposed to use 5w for them to work. _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

R they 6v ones? I have them too but when any of the other lights are on they don't seem to work. Even using the brake lights they play up. Pretty annoying.. _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

Measure the voltage at the semaphore when you have the other guilty lights on. _________________
