So i can get a 2000-2004 Acura TL 3.2L v6 crate motor for 395 dollars, and I am thinking about swapping it in to my 4 seat sand limo in place of my type 1 with a thing AV trans currently.

091 six rib i was told will handle the 225-260 hp acura motor, what is the best and least expensive way to run the electronics on this swap, are people running the factory harness and ecu or something else?

Any input will be great.

Also who makes headers for rails for these

Check engine rotation, "some" Honda motors are counter-clockwise...

There are several Honda V6 swaps on this forum, several on shoptalk forums and Glamis Dunes forums.

API in Chandler. AZ has just about everything you would need.

When you say "Crate Motor", what all does that include?
Is this a complete JDM engine with low miles and all of the driven accessories, complete ignition and fuel injection system, basically an engine pulled from a running car and put on a pallet?

If all of the wiring is intact you could just use the factory ECM if you could find one, plug and play. There might be more than one ECU though.

Chances are the wiring has been cut and the factory plug is not included.
If so you could use a MegaSquirt stand alone ECM. You can build them yourself or have a company build one for you. Very versatile and programmable.

How mechanically/electrically inclined are you?

You will probably need to make your own headers for this custom one off beast. This should be pretty easy though if you start off with the factory exhaust header/manifolds. They are probably already pretty good as Honda is well known for getting alot out of small displacement and leaving less power on the table than just about any other marque.

i have the 3.5 in my thing, it is running a stock ecm. if i can rember the ecm is out of a 1999 acura cl or tl. that ecm was used with the factory harmess from the 3.5 with some changes to it. the earlyer ecm was used to get a round the factory immobilizer in the proper year ecm. there is a guy that for $650 and a good harness will rewire it and provide the ecm, look on http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?s=ff93d0406a5342e15ff4112076472e23&showforum=161
hope that this helps christian j

pics of this thing with the swap?

ya i have read about the key immobizer issue and i dont want to deal with that, might be better to run the old ecm if that works or a megasquirt i guess. I have not looked at the 3.5L cost but LQK has the 3.2s for chep for 2001-2004 which is a 268 hp motor.

What trans are you running to keep this together and how fast doe it feel?

I used the stock ECU with the immobilizer removed out of it. I did make my own wring harness. It took about 6 months to make but now that it was done and perfected I made one in one night for a friend. There are alot of companys that will modify your harness for $1000. best of luck with your build.
