Trans Engine question

I am looking at a 56 bug. All original 1 owner car. From what I have heard i will need to put a later model trans in it if i want to build a motor. How hard is it to put a later model trans in. Are certain yaers a better fit.

You will need a bug trans with a type 2 bus nose cone to fit with the frame.

What size engine you thinking about?

If the original trans is good and you only are going for36 or 40 horse, use the original trans. Especially if it is a matching trans to the car

If i swap it out i will do atleast a 1776. Yes all numbers should match. If i do a swap i will be keeping all of the original stuff also.
