Depending on the dates, I'm a maybe. This trips looks awesome! 2000 EVC.

I agree, Hood River has a lot to offer for an end/rally point. I also remember a different VW gathering camped over at Eagle Creek Campground, they have a group site, not too far from the end point; I couldn't attend.

page 132 has photos of the group campsite:

I think we need some dates to be set. How should we go about settling this?

The 3rd is a monday, that gives Marek one full day to get to the border crossing at the north end of the trail. this also cleverly places the last three days or so over the weekend, so that the 4-5 people from seattle who have said they wouldnt mind joining in ellensburg and head to portland, can plan and use the weekend to maximize ease of scheduling.

so the trip would be starting on monday the 3rd (no time or EXACT starting line pinpointed yet) and ending near 6-7 days later on monday the 10th, and the after party in portland (whos stepping up on that again? sunnydog? Xevin?) being that night.

this is assuming we take a full week to cover all that ground. personally, i think i could do it much fast, in the course of 3 days or so. but im not sure how fast a group would be moving....

thoughts?

The site says that people usually finish the full route in 5-6 days, probably on motorcycles though. So 6-7 days sounds good for a one way if we're doing a large group.

So if we "start" the trail on Monday, we should pin where everyone wants to meet up. Are we going to start from the south or northern end?

Just checked up on the thread to see if the dates were set as I will soon have to put in my vacation dates request for 2015.

I'll be requesting off enough time for August 3 to 10 plus getting to the start point and home to Vancouver, BC after the end.

Anyone else from the Vancouver, BC area planning on going?

Great!!!

Dates would be august 3-10.

Starting at the north end, heading south.

Longest stop off the trails being in ellensburg to allow people to come join in.

Party at Xevins? Wink

I won't be making this trip, but a friend from school opened a brewery in Cascade Locks called Thunder Island Brewing. That would be a cool spot to get every one together. They've got food and drinks and are right on the river. http://thunderislandbrewing.com
