Hi FA812
I love those new seat covers...my kinda covers for sure...I am a big fan of keeping the old stuff looking and feeling old...I guess they call me a "patina" hound...
You have an awesome little car there....keep up the good work...

thanks again Mike!
DAY 102
Thermostat added:) as I figured them short trips in the cold really don't let it get warmed up much so I pretty much drive around with the flaps closed now. I've even noticed the modern vehicles don't get too warmed up on the short trips also.

135 miles this week. Christmas shopping last Sunday then to and from work all week. grocery shopping twice and a couple of longer trips, to Somers CT and Manchester CT. Average gas mileage last time I checked was about 22.5 MPG. It still spent some time idling to warm up till the sudden warm temps. Another oil change is due soon. I also found out why I had to tap the dome light to get it to light. It was going.

4 Months
Only put on about 50 miles this week to and from work with some time off due to the holiday. I was planning on a short trip two towns over today but the family isn’t into the cold weather thing. I don’t mind the temps at 30. One mourning started out at 13. That was a little cool. Two days later 30 didn’t seem cold enough for me to be warming it up before work;) Today I fixed the dome light, new bulb and finally put a fuse box cover on. Both from WCM.

Week 18
Started the week out with an oil change. Switched to a thinner oil and went up to 25MPG but did more highway over all.
Since I decided to run it longer this week I went from a 50-mile week to a 129-mile week. I also drove less at night. The short cold drives especially after wet conditions have been causing icing issues with the intake. I took it on the highway to get it warm and try to get some of the moisture out of the engine. Lots of driving in the snow and cold weather this week with Wednesday being the coldest day of the year. It got down to 0 at night then up to 11 when I started out.

DAY 129
Started right up after last nights lows and at 7 degrees this mourning. During some highway running to heat it up more I got a nice chip in the windshield from a rock:( on the bright side I'm getting more heat to the intake. I moved the preheat hose that I have and made a plate to get heat from the exhaust. I'll make something better later on but it works. After about ten miles of driving the intake base was warm and the inlet of the air cleaner was warm.

Two years ago today since the first time the car was on the road. By on the road I mean with a tow bar to a local garage for the vin verification.
Day 144
Cold start to the day. It got down to -4 last night. Even though the garage isn't heated or insulated (maybe the snow does that now) it does make a difference from just being left outside like our modern vehicles. They are not liking the cold morning starts. The Beetle on the other hand starts like normal.
I took it out Saturday after storm Blake and did some wheeling through the snow banks to get to a parking place at work but took a day off from driving it to work just after storm Colbie. I didn't need to, the lot was plowed enough. I did take it out just before the storm doing some storm prepping but forgot milk and bread. Maybe I'll get some next time. Maybe I'll figure out why you need milk and bread in a snow storm......... _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=

Week 21 started with a trip about 40 miles south to the Southington TA for a Connecticut Volkswagen staff meeting then stopped at Stew Lenard's in Newington for some grocery shopping on the way back.. I took a day off from driving it to work just after storm Colbie. I didn't need to, the lot was plowed enough. I did take it out just before the storm doing some storm prepping but forgot milk and bread. Maybe I'll get some next time. Maybe I'll figure out why you need milk and bread in a snow storm.........154 miles total this week. _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=
