RareAir- in the Classifieds. Check him first, but I haven't seen restorers sell all their secrets... _________________

Those are modern Hazet tools. Good luck with them supplying vintage stuff |

ok, It's been a while since I originally posted this ad,,, life put projects on hold....
Back now with a couple more questions for restoration of a Hazet spare tire
tool kit. Thanks to all of you, I know where to get replacement kits and flocking...
Question 1...... I notice on my kit (60-64 w/ vw logo) which is all original but in need of restoration, my flocking appers to be almost a dark navy blue... I've seen this in all of my research of different images as well. Those that have not been restored all seem to have this darker navy bluish flock,
I also see that all the images I find of restored kits all seem to have a much lighter blue, almost "the hazet blue" color off wood handled hazet tools. Is this lighter color flocking the correct color? are the boxes with darker flocking (like mine) just like that from age...
bottom line... reflock in the lighter blue or reflock in navy blue to be more "correct?
Question 2... what kind of rivits are you restorers using to replace clips? Obviously, a correct restoration would not include your garden variety pop rivit. Anyone know where I might aquire a more "authentic" rivit for replacing a broken clip?
Question 3.... I've searched the forums, and it's been asked before, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere... anyone have the correct paint code for the 60-64 vw round tool box (the actual metal case)
Any replies to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated...
thanks everyone |
