I recently found an Empi GT steering wheel and the guy I got it from said it came off his '62 356. I bought the wheel for a VW, so I dont need this but Im wondering if thats actually what it came off of.

It's stamped "VDM" and "01" but other than that, I cant find any similar pictures anywhere so I was wondering what its actually for, or if its something that's been modified to fit an Empi wheel on a Porsche.

Here are some pictures.

As possibly you already know VDM wheels were on 356 cars from the 1950's through the range. I presume this adaptor will fit one. The steering wheel is the valuable item they are are worth a lot of cash.

This image shows 356B versions

It's a hub from standard B/C/911 steering wheel that has been cut off and modified to fit a different wheel. Similar part here:

So it's been cut and not just removed? What was cut off of it that you can see?

Did you open the link I put in on my last post? You have to scroll down to the last pages to on it to see the VDM marked adaptor go right to the bottom!

To me, it seems the spline looks okay and the part does fit a VDM wheel but maybe not all VDM wheels. Don't quite see what Jack means its been cut off?

There seems to be a small aluminum part shown in the link pages as well do you have that.

Maybe Jack can explain.

Roy, thanks for that, I must have missed it. The only other part I have for this is the horn cancel ring as shown in the pictures. I also have a horn spring and circlip too that arent pictured but I dont have that adapter piece shown on that site. Im with you as Im not seeing how its been cut off. The "bumps" dont look cut or ground down at all, but I could be wrong. I asked a friend with a 356B for his opinion and he hasnt gotten back to me yet.
