Would you guys go white on the roof or more ivory?
Also the dash is painted the same colour as outside, any ideas on the original dash on a '69. Should I go down the wood effect dash face. I'm looking to go as original as poss without getting to anal about it. |

Does it NEED paint? Is there rust bubbling up? If not I wouldn't open that can of worms. If it's a good driver and paint is pretty good, which it looks to be pretty dang nice, I'd do your mechanicals and cleanup. Check all the rubber, brakes ,wheel bearings and electrical. Then, drive snot out of it. Great buy, good looking car and major cuddos to C21darrel. Love this forum. _________________ 63 ghia coupe |

It certainly is a beautiful looking Ghia as is, but if you are asking for opinions on the color scheme then I'll be happy to offer my worthless one.
Searching Google for Cypress Green Karmann Ghia shows that there seems to be quite a difference in how the color looks on each car ...
Naturally, the differences could be entirely due to lighting conditions, camera settings or a dozen other factors.
Anyway, my point is that if Cypress Green can have subtle differences in shade, than why couldn't the white color used for the roof be slightly different as well?
If you think that a less pure white would look a little less "harsh" in contrast to the dark green (which is what I think you are saying if I am reading between the lines correctly), then I don't mind admitting that I would agree with that.
Perhaps a color that more closely matches the color of the upholstery might be a good choice.
... just don't forget to repaint the outer portion of the wheels to match whatever color you choose for the roof. |

I agree it looks great as is, but will look so much better simply by getting rid of the Lee-Press-On whitewalls and painting the wheels back to silver. Thats the first thing I'd do appprarance wise. |

Yeah it definitely needs paint. On drivers door, front quarter and hood deck lid it's blistering and flaking. No sign of rust there, yet, possibly down to poor prep when it was painted about 8 years ago. The rest is very solid so shouldn't need too much major prep.
Found the original,German paper sticker with colour name on it still stuck to bodywork inside the trunk. |

Wheels are a way off yet, I kinda like white walls but not really available in UK. The Portawalls are an option but not ideal. Haven't really thought about wheel choice/colour yet. Trying to keep it as stock as poss . |

I vote for a ivory top, certainly not white - just me.
as for the dash - I would rather see a painted one rather than the face, but since you have a cypress green ghia, maybe a wood dash face would be rather suiting
all up to you! _________________ 1973 karmann ghia - current, not the last VW.
