In the picture above . . . Which one are you recommending?
The Machine Gun, or the Bomb?

The Bomb is the gas heater out of my 73 Thing. It is out while the car is being painted.

This is my kitsch gear shift knob from my 1977. Because I had never liked it I bought a gear shift knob, OEM VW from The Thing Shop to change it. But This one is so ugly that I kind of like it now, I think I'm going to leave it there a bit longer.

$30 bucks on fleaBay. Best shifter for a Thing.... ever. The only thing that would be better would be fitting it over/incorporating around a Berg shifter somehow.

Here is a little something you could put next to the shifter.

*Sigh*, at one time long ago in the past, I owned two MG-34's . . .

If I knew before I sold them I would have owned a Thing, I would have probably kept one set up as a dummy gun as a prop . . . at KubelTreffen, not in the car on a daily basis of course . . .

how's the throw on the bus shifter in relation to the dash and stuff? i have a bugpack berg knockoff and with the tall seating position, it makes it feel like i'm reaching to the floor to shift.

The shifter has plenty of clearence between the dash. I'm fairly tall and the shifting position is perfect.

The seat rails have also been cut down which brings you closer to the floor.

Piston from chain saw threaded right on to shifter shaft with no modifications.
