You'll be pulling the sink cabinet and almost the whole rest of the interior to fix it either way, there's no easy way to do it. |
well I have all the books to do it! do I put a skim coat of bondo after it is pushed out or just paint onto the metal |

I don't have those, but will invest. Just the VW restoration manuals. Also, I saw that you have a 77 westfalia vr6 project. I also own a 12v vr6 and was considering that at a point. Rather all my friends wanted me to. How is it going? |

That side panel may not be as bad as you think after you get at the backside. More important is to stop the other rust and fix those holes. At this point for our Bays, lots of stuff needs done, mechanicals, rubber, electric, etc. So, keep after it, a running and ( stopping) driving Bus is a great reward. _________________ '72 Elm Green Deluxe |

There's pics of my bus in my gallery. It's a long process, but I'm moving slowly. Vr6 is not a particularly easy swap, the water outlet is pretty much in the rear crossmember trans mount. I'm still working on what to do with that one, and I'm doing body work in the meanwhile.
This is one of a very few others I have seen. Most not very well documented.

He's much further than I am, and doing an excellent job.
The side panel is easy to get to the back side once you get the interior out. _________________ 77 westfalia vr6 project

Yeah nothing is easy at this point. Luckily nothing else is really wrong besides dealing with the mechanicals, but as for the holes do I use bondo or spray with rust treatments and leave it? Considering the damage the bondo has done in the past. |
