Hello I need to replace lines from reservoir to master, since replacing leaking reservoir figure do all the line to master as well. I noticed that the new line only comes in blue 7 MM but I think on mine OEM color brownish? Can anyone tell me OEM color and if still available? and length need is about 2-3 ft? Thanks

as far as i know blue braided brake line hose is correct. i just did those hoses on my 67. old stuff was blue and new stuff was blue.

i have literally wrenched on hundreds - mostly 60's and 70's era models, of these cars and when the braided brake is correct its blue. i have seen several generic rubber hoses used over the years.

Blue is original and rated for brake fluid.

Somewhere here there was a discussion of oddball hoses and fittings to bridge from the reservoir fittings to the master fittings... maybe they were different sizes? Some versions of the adapter hose pieces were green.

A search should find these threads but I can't check at the moment.

Depends on which master cylinder you have.

Original US '67 with Dual circuit used 5mm from reservoir to M/C, been so long since I've seen any can't really remember what color it was but it might have been blue too.

Eventually sometime in the 80's the '67 replacement M/C's were superseded to the later version M/C with 7mm fittings, VW made a short adapter hose going from 5mm to 7mm so you could hook up the old steel lines to the M/C fittings. Recall these were blue as well.

As far as I know, you can't buy those adapter hoses any longer, so if you have 5mm pipes on your reservoir, and 7mm fittings on the M/C, you have to use the 7mm hose and install clamps at the reservoir end.

I've also "sleeved" over the old 5mm supply pipes at the M/C ends by soldering on a larger piece of tubing to increase it's OD to 7mm. This way allows you to use 5mm hose at the reservoir end and 7mm hose at the M/C end.
