72 beetle, ALL STOCK....loaded spring plate angle?

Hey all, I have anew to me 72 that is 100% stock...it sure looks to be sitting high based in rear based on my past memory. I know all about setting to torsion bars and such...but what I can not find..in an effort to verify my thoughts is a "loaded" spring plate angle spec. I've searched this site every way possible and either overlooked it or no one has posted this angle.


Bentley shows nothing....does anyone have such an angle in their knowledge base?

I'm currently @ 8.5 degrees downward with 0 degrees on tunnel

With the car sitting level. The stock angle is 21°.

Jason thanks but that is an unloaded angle...I'm asking for the loaded angle(car sitting on the ground at ride height)

If your tunnel is level, with stock tires and stock ride height, I believe the distance from ground to the center of the rear fender lip is likely around 26-27". Specs say the roof is 1500mm high.

thanks Jhoefer.....car appears to sit high....It doesnt look to have had any recent torsion work but who knows what happens in past lives.

Jason, that is what I'm after a total stocker...I did all the custom stuff back in late 70s and early 80s...I'm after a new 72 sales brochure version this go round...Yes hub caps and twin tail pipes...with possibly a Formula Vee option here or there

1536mm (60 1/2") to roof high point

28.5" to high side of rear fender opening
