Thought i would put this into the open. Before thanksgiving my alt quit charging , made it nome about 50 mi on batt. Problem was the corroded contacts of regulator & alt spring ones, cleaned, some grease , been ok. Also checked the westy alt & they were corroded but still working, even my spare alt this way. Looks like this is a need to do thing 4 any , old alts, never having any regulator replaced. I wouldn't have thought to check these as it's been a long time since any alt problem, just my 2cts.

I understand most of the individual words but no idea what is being said when they are put together like this.

He is suggesting to check alternator internal connections at the voltage regulator/brush assembly.
Furthermore, clean them and renew with dielectric grease as preventive maintenance.

Thanks, Mory!

It's common on technical forums to ignore text talk and poorly constructed posts? If you want people to help you, the onus is on you to communicate it clearly.

OTOH, Mory consistently demonstrates that he knows his sh!t & I usually find it worthwhile to pay close attention.

Likewise Ben, whose English is not strong but his advice is amazing!

Take what you want & leave what you don't... Cool
