Yes, or a little better than the one on your bathroom, maybe?
You need to know how many mm the camshaft lift, and compress the spring the same as the camshaft would do. _________________ I got a historic car, every scratch got a history...

I have no idea!
I just went for some BMC ones that were the right length and not too crazy stiff... although much stiffer than stock VW. As Mr Motorhead pointed out... my cam might not last too long but we shall see.
I just figured if they were OK in an old A series engine then I might be alright, or I could perhaps take out the inner springs.... or whatever.
I am winging it a little. |
How to measure stiffness in springs, in Swedish
(use Google translate or better...)

After a long delay I have decided to get some expert help... in the form of a great engine builder.
Heads have been taken apart and rebuilt. Spring pressures were fine in the end, so the dual spring bmc MINI items should work great
waiting for assembly
rods rebuild with 20.5mm small ends for the pistons I am using.
The 78mm pistons with teflon buttons, and the 20.5mm pins
various bits and pieces... everything has been taken apart and de-burred... and polished.
The WW Okrasa crank. I don't really know what to say about this other than I am very disappointed in the manufacturing. I had it for a year in storage and I never opened the package, so its a bit late now... but it was covered in grinder marks etc. Has any one else experienced this? They were only ever going to lead to stress points and cracks so the entire crank was worked on and polished up to remove all the roughness.
Not really what I was expecting, and a big expense.
Nice clean case. All tapped and replugged.
More to follow. _________________ 1954 L227 Type 113

Quick question...
so my original head studs are beyond use... I need new but I am nervous about going aftermarket...
Will they expand and contract at the right rate?
Does anyone have a good recommendation of what to use?
thanks in advance! _________________ 1954 L227 Type 113
