Well it has been a couple of weeks since I won it. A little intro of myself would be in order here. I'm in my 50's and grew up working on VW's. My dad at one point had about 10 different ones! Wish I had them now.
My son (29) has a Green '77 Westy like this one that he is restoring, and he told me about this one. The idea was that it would be in horrible condition and I could get it for 500 and he could use the "two to make one" type of thing.
Well when I went, this is what I found!
Even had 3 boxes of new parts and a new pop top canvas from Bus Depot!
Interior is almost perfect. All tables are there.
No rust.
So it eventually came down to me and one other guy in a bidding war. I won. I put a new battery in it and checked the fuel lines. Someone had done the hard fuel line mod through the engine tin, and converted it to single carb. Started up and I drove it around the block. I still need to do a tune up/valve adjustment. Checked the compression 1-151, 2-154, 3-150, 4-150.
I am pretty stoked!
Should I say how much or that pretentious? |

Nice score! All it needs is a good buff job. Totally up to you if you want to mention the price. Enjoy your Westy. _________________ 1962 Gulf Blue Patina Deluxe Beetle

That's a clean looking bus for your part of the country, nice score.
Don't do anything drastic until you've replaced all the fuel lines, fire sucks. You may also want to ask a moderator to move this to the baywindow forum. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Congrats. That's a clean looking camper. As mentioned above, that paint should buff out nicely. Enjoy. _________________ and take the kids for instance "Are we going in the Volkswagen bus?" and they say "Yay!" and clap their hands and if it's a glorious day you can slide the sunroof back and let a little of the glory in and all of a sudden, it stops looking funny.
