1946 Beetle restoration, more questions than answers.

2. This is a newer car but the location will be the same I guess.
There are the two little holes. From this view the left is where the speedocable guide is fixed and the right is for the horn cable.

4. There is not much inside.
Just a ring that reduces the diameter a bit but that usually can not be removed

6. The headliner has stripes of cardboard sewed along the edges all around.
They are just hooked behind the metal gaps all around the roof above the Windows.

When did they change from the small to the bigger hole?

The routing of the brake light switch wire is the same, hydro or cable. Yes the switch is in a slightly different position, but the wire will reach. Some splits have the small hole next to the fuse box for the wire (750mm brake light switch wire) and some do not and the harness exits out of the spare tire well tab hole on the left side (1150mm brake light switch wire, with grommet in the tab hole even though it is not round, as in the pic above). Some brake light switch wires were aluminum wrapped and some were cloth wrapped.
