Personal Message Issues

I've been told by a user I PMd the other day that he gets an error message when trying to open the message I've sent him. Not sure what error message it is.

I found another route to get my message to him but have just tried to delete the messages that still sit in my "Outbox" and this message comes up..."Could not update user pm counters" and they remain.

Anyone else having problems at the moment?

I have seen this happen in the past at random times.
Something glitched so that message is messed up.
It is only that message.

If you want me to delete it, give me the message #.

Open the PM and in your browser, the message # is the # after p= at the end of the message link.

If you prefer not to post the message # publicly, you can PM it to me.

Yep there's 3473689 been in my "Outbox" since 18th December and 3497963 since the 2nd Feb.

I see some of mine are messed up too.
I have 50-60 in my outbox - people don't already read their messages so I just leave them there.

I thought it was because people block "pop-ups" in their browser options and don't realise the message is there but in most cases recently that hasn't been the reason.

The only way I could contact one user was to send an email through his classified ads as there wasn't an email option in his profile. Is there a case to be made that a user should have an email icon shown in their profile if they advertise on the site?

Allowing email contact through their profile is an option user can select to turn on/off and I would not want to make that universal.

Info: You probably could have sent them another new PM and had it work.
(Not sure on that though)

You are correct about the pop-ups but MOST people will see the text in red at the top of the site too.
