I overlooked this thread in the past. I just went through all 4 pages. I really like the look. Slammed is over played IMO.

Went digging for race type Bugs and found this thread. I have never owned a Bug Surprised , just Buses and one Ghia. I think the only way I will ever own one is by turning one into a Class 11. This is a very cool thread and reminds me of a show sighting a few years back

I know it's an old thread, but it'd sure be great to see more people posting their creations here, it is inspiring!

Pure poser--my beater '69 Bug: 14" diam., 4x130 Dan Gurney alloys from Samba seller Richie (Richie's Garage in New Jersey), custom powdercoat finish, and then "STA Super Traxion - E78-14LT" tires (got the idea from the Thing forum). Needed spacers on the front to clear Karmann Ghia disk brake calipers.

Nice! Mind if I ask where from and how much the tires were?

I bought them from Universal Tires in Hershey, and here is their current listing @ $143 each (I bought mine this past summer, so they must've been right around there--I don't have my exact paperwork handy): https://www.universaltire.com/e78-14-sta-super-traxion.html

These are so cool, anti-hero style and the true bad-asses of Baja racing. Corporate racing is dull compared to what these machines do.
