My wife was watching Rizzoli and Isles, a show she likes but I don't generally watch. She starts yelling for me to come in. A segment on the show has a VW Thing with the cops talking about it - and how cool they are.

You can view the spot here:

Wow, how cool is that? Could you imagine how popular they would have been if the same "plug" was done on Starsky and Hutch back in the day or some other popular cop show in 73 or 74.

And yes, I know that Starsky and Hutch didn't come on the tube until 75, but I was away in the military, and couldn't think of a cop show from 73 and 74.

According to the clip it belongs to Chip (the forensic artist) and boy is he going to get an earful.

Sometime last year someone was openly soliciting to borrow a Thing to be used in a TV series being filmed on the west coast. I forget where I saw the advertisement. After one or two days they posted that they had secured one in the LA area. That was the last I ever heard about it. Now this pops up. Sounds like a fit to me.

Awesome!! Gotta love free publicity!! I feel our values growing each year, with little Tv spots and auction houses(how many of these have popped up, or at least gotten tv notoriety..?)...

Of course, the value only matter if the insurance has to pay out, or it gets sold.. Rolling Eyes

Neither of which I wish to deal with in my lifetime! Wink

That was from Attaboy productions, for use on Wheeler Dealers.

That was our car that they used, will be out around June on Wheeler Dealer. I just talked with the Production Manager last week.
