I probably drive my VW 80-100 miles a week. I try to drive it to work 1-2 days and at least one day during the weekend.

I bought my 66 bug three months ago and drive it 20-50 miles everyday...until today when it decided to test my knowledge and patience. She is grounded until she can behave reliably.

I'm driving my '59 european standard around for about 300kms a month. 20 to 30 kms per trip. In fact we used it as our second car!
Love to see the smiling faces of people noticing the car, and children pointing to the car.

And people are not familiar anymore with the semaphores, so you get many surprised looks every time you use them.

This morning, at the gas station, someone came up, and asked why I had to open the bonnet to fill it up...

And many times older people come up to tell a little story, as they drove the same car many years back, when they were young. They always admit they don't seem to remember that their beetle was so small Laughing

About the car:
1959 european standard factory sunroof
Jupitergrey
stock 1200cc (for the moment an '57 overhauled engine)
cable brakes that work like a charme!!
stock non-synchronized crashbox
Camac 5,60-15 tires
7,2l per 100kms
77005kms (but will be 177005kms)
both driver and car are completely satisfied
wish that the rust wasn't so bad on the car, but in a few months I will make a project out of it!

Wow, looks great! Not much stock there though - certainly not the engine, smoothies, or seats!

Great MPG, i'm on a mission to improve it on my '72 Super. What carb(s) do you have installed?

Thanks Mate!
Only the trans is stock

He's currently on a 32/36 weber

I used to have a 71 Super. I loved that thing like crazy, but it wasn't long after I fixed it up (new brakes, oil change, etc.) that a driver with no attention to the road totaled my car. Crying or Very sad

I'm just glad I was able to get another older bug.

Nice 67!

After all the work on that car how many people bring up the dent in the rear bumper? After completely disassembling, painting and reassembling Herbie I would get "when are you gonna replace the rear bumper?" Cause there was some rust on the inside.

My '65 daily driver and only mode of transportation. Purchased 3/27/14 after selling my 3 year old Hyundai and it could not have been a better decision. 50th birthday (the car, not mine) in a couple weeks! I drove this car on the hottest day of summer and the coldest day of winter in Dallas, Texas. Less than 20 days that I have not driven it in the past year. Not once has it left me on the side of the road. Originally L289 Blue-white I believe with dealer-installed A/C.

1965 VW sedan w/ original popouts
1600cc as of 1/9/15 w/ shitty tiny EMPI duals >> 1641cc blew up 12/24/14
'67 or '68 stock swingaxle
155/60 front and 195/60 Kuhmo Solus on stock smoothies
30ish, not sure and don't really care
25+ daily, 16155 in the past 367 days (93882 as of today, purchased with 77727 on 3/27/14
100% satisfied, even with the crankshaft splitting in half on X-mas eve.
Long wish list, really want to bring it back to 100% stock and only cruise it occasionally. Want to pick up a '68 or later to drive daily. Dont have the heart to wreck this one, and Dallas drivers are terrible.

Now there is a daily driver.... Being driven daily!

I'm looking forward to shows this summer and parking next to the other daily drivers in the daily driver class. You know, the ones that aren't driven like the ones here.
