Hi,

Look behind the card board cover that protects the dash gauges, remove the two little screws at the bottom, don't just pull.
A four fuse box is near the speedo

A 2nd fuse box is to the right of the gas tank down by the spare tire. (looking at it, it is actually on the left side of the car)

This is for the 57 but it'll work just fine for you

Digging up this thread to ask the same question for the '55.

I have a wiring diagram for the '54 oval, and it references a 1-fuse box, and a 3-fuse box. The 1-fuse box is somehow tied into the brake lights, and the 3-fuse box is farther down the line.

Where are these physically located on the car? I know about the 4-box behind the speedo and the 2-box on the driver's side up by the side of the gas tank. But are there more fuse boxes elsewhere?

This may be why I can't get my brake lights working.

Steve

Perhaps checking the 1955 manual in the technical section above

In 1955, the fuse box moved to a 6 fuse box under the instrument panel IIRC

Thanks. That was a good suggestion...there was no 1955 manual, but I clicked around on the '54 manual and learned there were only two fuse boxes. What I was seeing was actually this junction.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

It was published in the Clymer manual, but it was printed so small I couldn't tell that it was a junction instead of a fuse. So now I'm looking for the physical location of the junction instead, but I'm not as hopeful that my brake light problem is a simple fix.

The junction for the brake lights would typically be in the engine compartment, behind the passenger sidewall insulation panel.

you may need a new switch. Connected to the end of your master cylinder.

That's what I thought. But I was able to use a test probe to prove that the switch at the master cylinder is working. I think the next step is to get some alligator clips and verify my grounds are good. I can only get some parts of my brake lights working and turn signals flashing at the same time...so I think its grounds now.

It's aggravating! Mad
