Yes, the cluster is also involved in immo. The transponder in the key sends a signal to that ring on the column lock, which relays it to the immo part in the cluster. Flipping the gearbox might be a viable option. But it does present some issues with how the axles and motor line up height wise. It's a very interesting idea, though.
